{"id":211,"date":"2020-12-12T02:56:48","date_gmt":"2020-12-12T02:56:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dh-wordpress.ramapo.edu\/discovering1920s\/?p=211"},"modified":"2023-01-05T16:25:38","modified_gmt":"2023-01-05T16:25:38","slug":"style-guide-documents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh-wordpress.ramapo.edu\/discovering1920s\/blog\/2020\/12\/12\/style-guide-documents\/","title":{"rendered":"Style Guide &#8211; Historical Documents"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Follow these guidelines so that each historical document on the site has the same format. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Introduction (H3)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This section will introduce the document, provide any specific information that a reader might need to understand it, and will explain why you selected it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Image Slideshow (H3)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have images of the original document, include them here, either as a single page image, or if a multipage document, as a slideshow or gallery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To add a slideshow, go to the Metaslider tab on the left bar and create a new slide show, adding each page of your document. Save it and then select it in the dropdown below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Document Text (H3)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here you will transcribe the document, making sure not to make any errors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You do not have to copy line breaks. Do keep paragraphs as they are in the original.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can keep misspellings in the original. If they are clear typos, you can change them. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you can&#8217;t read the word clearly, put a square bracket around it [like so].<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Annotation<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use the short code [ mfn] <sup><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\">1<\/a><\/sup> [ \/mfn ] to create inline citations for annotations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Source<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where did you locate the original document? Cite it, using the Chicago Manual of Style. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-black-color has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background wp-block-heading\">Post settings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This section should not be in your post, it is simply here to help you set the page up properly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Featured image<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Do not use a featured image on these posts.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">URL slug<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is usually generated from the title of the post. If you copied this page to build yours, you should edit the slug (URL) so that it matches your content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Categories<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Documents must have the <strong>Documents<\/strong> category as well as any other category that fits the content of the text. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Follow these guidelines so that each historical document on the site has the same format.
